The product is a starter-sized plant with an approximate 4-inch-diameter root zone. The plant will be a minimum of 6 to 8 inches tall. It will not have buds or blooms on arrival. Starter-sized plants are intended for a gardener to plant and grow to their mature size.

  • A beautiful, fast-growing deciduous tree native to South America. This small tree is known by several common names, including Pink or Purple Trumpet, Lapacho, Pau D Arco, and Tecoma. It matures rapidly to about 20 feet, making it well-suited for smaller lots and urban landscapes where larger species are not an option.
  • In early spring, the leafless branches burst forth in a spectacular display of pink-lavender trumpets with bright yellow and ruby-red striped throats. These flowers cover the entire canopy and last for about 21 days, creating a show that is simply unmatched.
  • Care: This tree is easy to grow and establishes quickly, with a growth rate of 2-4 feet per year. It prefers well-drained soil and full sun for the best bloom. Once established, it is a very tough and resilient tree that is surprisingly drought tolerant.
  • Indoor Growing: Due to its size and natural dormancy cycle, this tree is not recommended for long-term indoor growing. It can be grown in a container for a few seasons, but should be given a proper cold period to ensure vigorous blooms in the spring.
  • Climate: As a semi-tropical deciduous tree, it is best suited for outdoor growing in USDA Hardiness Zones 9, 10, and 11. It will shed its leaves when night temperatures dip into the low 40s and is not tolerant of frost.
